Biologically enhanced material is specifically engineered to attract oysters. OysterKrete can be used to fabricate cultch material used to grow oysters. This concrete mixture has an attractant and texture that oysters need to survive and mature in their natural environments. This same OysterKrete concrete mixture can also be used to fabricate larger structures such as Wayfarer Environmental Technologies' OysterBreak, which fosters a more vibrant estuary and shoreline ecosystem and reduces shoreline erosion.
OysterKrete concrete can be manufactured easily with any standard concrete mixing facility. This local manufacturing capability using easily available components allows OysterKrete structures to cost effectively be built on-site or nearby which keeps costs down and simplifies logistics.
