Primary Objective

  • Create an oyster reef: Your OysterBreak reef design primarily creates new oyster reef habitat (either subtidal or intertidal) with optional shoreline protection. 
  • Shoreline Protection: You are prepared to 'let the oysters do the work' resulting in less initial wave attentuation which will increase over time as the reef forms.
  • Strict wave attenuation: You need a very robust OysterBreak reef sea wall designed to product wave attentuation right away.

Estimate Your OysterBreak

The OysterBreak Project Estimator produces a project installed cost estimate based on the following parameters.  All other information is related documentation for your inquiry.

Input parameters:

  • Project Length - The target length of your shoreline protection structure.
  • Primary objective - Select from 'Create an oyster reef', Shoreline Protection, or Sea Wall
  • Shoreline Protection - Yes or No.  Only considered if your primary objective is 'Create an oyster reef'
  • Wave Fetch - Unencumbered distance from the shoreline for wave generation.
  • Flushing Gap Length - The design length of periodic flushing gaps designed into the OysterBreak structure.
  • Flushing Gap Interval - The distance between flushing gaps.

Depth of Water - Oysterbreak placements are optimized based on ring height.  Whether your project requires a single Oysterbreak ring layer or multiple layers the distance from shore is engineered so that the rings are marginally above high tide levels.

These estimates are based on standard OysterBreak rings.  OysterBreak rings may be custom manufactured to meet specific project cost and performance objectives.
